Pine Cone Inn
It was a rainy morning and while the drive into town was a little dreary, the atmosphere inside the Pine Cone Inn was just the opposite. We had a very lively audience who were really there to soak up the jazz music that we had to offer. I think they liked the food as well, as I saw many going back for at least seconds. (I know I did!) We didn’t have as many people there this time as the first time, but I still have a good feeling about this event building and becoming a regular thing we do about every six weeks or so. I’m hoping that word of mouth and people emailing their friends will help create a good “buzz” about what we are doing.
The musicians all played with great energy and I know we had at least as much fun as the people in the audience.

Ted Sistrunk – Bass (in the back)
We joked about the audience having some Bloody Marys, Mimosas, or Ramos Gin Fizzes – and our wonderful bartender said – “Hey we don’t have the makings for the Ramos Gin Fizzes, but we could do that next time.” After all, those are a tradition in New Orleans and a great way to get “feeling good” earlier in the day, so to speak. I am busy doing booking for my clinic tours coming up in January through June of next year. If anyone knows of a high school, middle school, elementary school, college or university who might like to have me in, please let me know and I will be glad to contact them.
I am also working on two tours for the Stan Kenton Alumni Band.

One in April in California, and one next fall on the East Coast. I can always use help with ideas for places to perform and do clinics with the band. It is amazing how many times I have been able to book a date for the band or for my own clinics, based on a lead that someone gave me in their area. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. We have good friends coming from California to stay with us next week and will have a house full, including friends from here in the Prescott area, for our Thanksgiving Dinner.
Even with all the problems in the world, there is so much to be thankful for in each of our lives that this is always one of my favorite holidays. One of the real pleasures we have had with our move here to Northern Arizona is that we have more time to have people come to our home to visit, eat, and have fun together!
